How to Measure Your Wall?

1-Buying a mural from our stock of images (available on our website)

Please make sure that the height of the selected mural is a little higher than the height of your wall. For example, the majority of our stocked murals are 8’ (2,44m) or 9’ (2,75m) high. If your wall measures 8’ high (2,44m) including a 3" (7.50cm) trim/molding, an 8’ (2,44m) high mural will fit perfectly on your wall. The extra 3” (7,50cm) will allow for an inch and a half surplus (that is easily trimmed) on both the top and bottom of the mural. This will compensate for the fact that most floors and ceilings are not leveled.

If the selected mural is much higher than your wall, you will need to decide to trim either the top or bottom (or both) of the mural.

If the height of the selected mural is shorter than your wall, one economical option is to frame the mural with trim/molding that are available up to 8” in width.

If the width of your chosen mural is wider than your wall, you will need to trim either the left or right (or both edges) of the mural. If you are uncertain which side to trim, please contact us and we will send you a visual image of the trimmed mural. Please remember that it is almost always more economical to trim a stocked mural, rather than to order a custom printed mural.

If the width of your selected mural is shorter than the width of your wall, one option is to center the mural on the wall, and you could install trim/molding on either side. N.B-Each strip of our product stretches a quarter of an inch (6mm) once it is immersed in water. For example, a 12’ (3,66m) wide mural will stretch to 12' 2" (3,71m) once installed. Please take this stretching into account if you decide to center the mural on your wall.

2. How to purchase a custom printed mural to fit the dimensions of your wall.

The most important decision will be your choice of image. Try to avoid images that have large sections of monotone color (as in a blue sky) as this type of background will make the seams more apparent.

We would prefer that you gave us the height of your wall (without including the base board/trim). Based on the width of your mural, we will recommend the extra height needed for trimming (to compensate for the fact that most floors and ceilings are not leveled).

For the width, our murals are printed on strips that are 18" (45,75m) wide. For example, if you order a custom mural to be 10' (3m) wide, we can do this, but you will be invoiced for a 10.5' (3,20m) (7 strips) wide mural. The 7th (last) strip will only have 12" (30cm) of print and the last 6" (15 cm) will be blank. If you need a custom printed mural to be 10’7’’ (3,23m) wide, a mural of 10’ 5" (3,20m) wide will be sufficient due to the stretching of each strip once immersed in water. N.B-Each strip of our product stretches a quarter of an inch (6mm) once it is immersed in water. For example, a 12’ (3,66m) wide mural will stretch to 12' 2" (3,71m) once installed.

It is possible to install a mural on a staircase wall, however, you will lose at least half of the image due to the triangular shape of the wall. We are unable to print a mural in variable heights. For staircase and cathedral walls, you will need to measure the height at the lowest and highest section of the wall.
